Truth is I lost interest in the project and moved on to other stuff. Although I might be on the verge of picking it up again soon... Maybe christmas before anything is ready though.

I am running a little behind in everything just lately due to work issues and laziness. I have next weeks page finished and ready to go up but the 6 other pages for chapter 1 are still far from complete. What I am going to do is work on these 6 pages and show the process I am using to get to the final colour version. When they are complete I'll release them all together in one update. I hoping that they will be finished over the next 6 weeks.

Page 17 has been uploaded. I've done quite a bit to the text this last couple of weeks and changed the font.

Each chapter is going to have a title page. I originally thought these would be just black with white text and a boarder. However I didn't like that so much so I ditched it in favor of putting some artwork in there. As this project is purely experiment for me in a kind of anything goes way, I thought it might be nice to bring in other art styles I like to work in. I have never really drawn in the style of this comic before. It's a loose development of a technique I used on some artwork I did a few years ago for a company that made e-learning games. (You can see some of it on my other site PK and the Brain - Links below)

I am also working on the colour. This is an area I am not so sure about. I keep looking at the two outcomes and I truly cannot decide between them. So this might happen and equally might not.

I am getting a bit worried as the last six pages of chapter 1 are nowhere near finished and I only have 3 complete pages left. I'd better pull my socks up and get on with it.

I've updated 2 pages this time as I missed last week. This is because I've been busy reworking the colour scheme throughout. It's put me behind a little as the last 6 pages of chapter 1 are still just line drawings and I had hoped they would be at least flatted out by now. Still I think it has been worth it and hopefully next week I'll have what I hope will be the finished colour.

I see I have a follower. Welcome Wendy I hope you are enjoying this little experiment.

I've also been working on the text quite a lot just lately. A lot has been changed and a lot is ready to be changed soon...

I seem to hit a bit of a hurdle a couple of weeks ago. When I sat down to draw or write I was getting very little if anything done. As I was translating what was in my head onto the page it was getting incredibly harder to finish even simple tasks. I think this was because I don't give myself time for other art. So to combat this I have bought a fantastic new sketch book which I am attempting to fill with quick portraits of people on my commute to work and back. It seems to be working. I've done 20 or so so far. I might post a few here some time.

Talking of posting from next week I am going to start adding some concept sketches for Temple Roots. I know I'm no great artist or anything but I thought it might nice to show part of the process.

I have added a new page. check the book out on the right and the link at the top.

Also I posted a few pages on a new forum http://makinggraphicnovels.com/ and got some good solid advice from them regarding the colour scheme I am using. As I have nearly finished the first chapter it will continue as it is until that is finished. When it's complete I'm going to work out a colour process and redo the colour scheme. I may also continue the whole thing in black and white but I'm not sure just yet.

How many pages in the first chapter?

The first chapter has been totally roughed out for some weeks now. Although I have to draw out and ink the last four pages which have taken some time to get right. I thought I had them looking good and was excited by what I’d actually got down on paper but something didn’t seem to flow quite right. So I deliberately didn’t look at them for a week and when I went back I saw some really gaping errors. I hope I’ve fixed these and will get these pages drawn and inked by the end of next week.

This means the first chapter will have a grand total of 26 pages of sequential art, a front cover and an inside front cover. When I’ve flatted and shaded the last four pages I will begin colour from page 3 onward. I need a bit of a head start so I'll start adding finished pages in a month or so. This hopefully will give me enough of a gap so not to create any interruptions in posts later.

In the mean time here is the next page in black and white. Again no text, sorry, I want it to be enjoyed in colour.

Here are the next two pages in black and white. I have 20 pages at the same stage which I will be adding on a 2 weekly basis. I'm still experimenting with colour at the moment regardless of the first 2 pages. As soon as I get the pages into what I consider a final stage I will add them to the book on the right. I have text laid out for these pages but I'll only be adding it when I feel confident about it.
