Still bubbling under the surface

I did another concept image for the project last week.  I think I might be getting ready to devote a bit more time to it again.

Wow..! 7 months and nothing

Truth is I lost interest in the project and moved on to other stuff.  Although I might be on the verge of picking it up again soon...  Maybe christmas before anything is ready though.

Hello,

I am running a little behind in everything just lately due to work issues and laziness.  I have next weeks page finished and ready to go up but the 6 other pages for chapter 1 are still far from complete.  What I am going to do is work on these 6 pages and show the process I am using to get to the final colour version.  When they are complete I'll release them all together in one update.  I hoping that they will be finished over the next 6 weeks.

A bit more concept work

I've been working on some concept stuff just lately.  They have been sketches for a while but I've been drawing them up bit by bit.

Page 17

Page 17 has been uploaded.  I've done quite a bit to the text this last couple of weeks and changed the font.

Each chapter is going to have a title page.  I originally thought these would be just black with white text and a boarder.  However I didn't like that so much so I ditched it in favor of putting some artwork in there.  As this project is purely experiment for me in a kind of anything goes way, I thought it might be nice to bring in other art styles I like to work in.  I have never really drawn in the style of this comic before.  It's a loose development of a technique I used on some artwork I did a few years ago for a company that made e-learning games. (You can see some of it on my other site PK and the Brain - Links below)

I am also working on the colour.  This is an area I am not so sure about.  I keep looking at the two outcomes and I truly cannot decide between them.  So this might happen and equally might not.

I am getting a bit worried as the last six pages of chapter 1 are nowhere near finished and I only have 3 complete pages left.  I'd better pull my socks up and get on with it.

New Pages

I've updated 2 pages this time as I missed last week.  This is because I've been busy reworking the colour scheme throughout.  It's put me behind a little as the last 6 pages of chapter 1 are still just line drawings and I had hoped they would be at least flatted out by now.  Still I think it has been worth it and hopefully next week I'll have what I hope will be the finished colour.

I've added page 14 to the book on the left and to the chapter 1 page.

I've also been working on the text quite a lot just lately.  A lot has been changed and a lot is ready to be changed soon...

I'll add some new concept stuff next week also.

I've added page 12.

I seem to hit a bit of a hurdle a couple of weeks ago.  When I sat down to draw or write I was getting very little if anything done.  As I was translating what was in my head onto the page it was getting incredibly harder to finish even simple tasks.  I think this was because I don't give myself time for other art.  So to combat this I have bought a fantastic new sketch book which I am attempting to fill with quick portraits of people on my commute to work and back.  It seems to be working.  I've done 20 or so so far.  I might post a few here some time.

Talking of posting from next week I am going to start adding some concept sketches for Temple Roots.  I know I'm no great artist or anything but I thought it might nice to show part of the process.

I have added a new page. check the book out on the right and the link at the top.

Also I posted a few pages on a new forum http://makinggraphicnovels.com/ and got some good solid advice from them regarding the colour scheme I am using.  As I have nearly finished the first chapter it will continue as it is until that is finished.  When it's complete I'm going to work out a colour process and redo the colour scheme.  I may also continue the whole thing in black and white but I'm not sure just yet.
